Humanities is a learning area in that it helps students to understand their world and provides them with the skills to play their part in society. It also focuses on the study of society and human activity in the contexts of change, continuity and contemporary issues.  Students are be able to investigate and explore important social issues, make decisions, work cooperatively and build their knowledge of History, Geography and Classical Studies.

The programme at HIBS embraces all of the above whilst also endeavoring to incorporate the schools’ special character and mission statement. Humanities in particular look to provide our students with an international perspective based on studies in the Pacific Rim and Asia, without restricting studies based on other regions of the planet.

The Humanities Department teaches Social Studies, Geography and History.
