In July 2024, our International Service (I.S.) team of 16 students and three staff will be travelling to the island of Viti Levu in Fiji to serve a local community in the Serua Province, near the town of Pacific Harbour.

The boys will be assigned to work in either a village or school, where they will be refurbishing classrooms, upgrading basic infrastructure e.g. concreting paths, and possibly building an incinerator. They will also be taking part in an initiative to restore the ecological community by sourcing mangrove seedlings in nearby forests to replant and rejuvenate local estuaries.

Being immersed in a new culture and working alongside local townspeople and villagers is what ‘IS’ is all about. The boys will provide a valuable service to a community that does not have our resources, and in doing so they will come away with a new perspective on the wider world; and on life here in New Zealand.

The IS journey starts well before anyone steps on a plane. In the 18 months prior, the team must raise the funds that will enable their projects in Fiji. Based on previous projects and in consultation with our contacts in Fiji, we have set our fundraising target at $75,000.

Alongside the running of school-based fundraising events, like the Y11 Semi-Formal, Junior Dances and Casual Days, the boys will be running Movie Nights, marshalling at events like the Wellington Marathon and the multi-sport Crazyman.

ALL of the money that we raise in our community goes directly to the community in Fiji.

Our team members will be paying for their flights and spending money themselves.
