IS 2021 Team

International Service is an opportunity that allows students to experience another country and culture while “giving back” to the community by providing much needed resources and assistance. It gives students an opportunity to take action and help communities that are less fortunate than our own. International Service is an integral part of the school’s Special Character and ethos.  Each year during the July School holidays a team of 16 students and staff travel to communities in the Pacific to undertake service projects. Each student is required to contribute towards the trip and undertake a year’s worth of fundraising activities (such as running sausage sizzles, mufti days, school dances, golf tournaments and raffles).

In 2021 we intend to travel to Vanuatu to work with our partner Volunteer Build to build a school classroom. We will also undertake other activities as required to assist the local community, as well as visiting the New Zealand High Commission.

Current Fundraiser:

Get lit with a HIBS Face Mask or Snood
The IS2021 Team have organised for HIBS-colours face masks and snoods to be made up to help keep you safe through COVID and beyond. As a fundraiser to give back to communities in need of resources and assistance, we hope you will order one or more of our face masks or snoods where all profits will go to the IS2021 work planned in Vanuatu next year.
They cost $25 each, come in the fabulous HIBS colours in small and large sizes. They are made from 2-ply cotton so that you have ultimate protection and stay looking cool without overheating. These are not commercially made, but are custom-made just for us to our own design and pattern by hand-picked, very experienced seamsters and seamstresses connected to the school community (more on this later!).
Please remember – once ordered, you must pay and payment is required before delivery.
