Underpinning all that we do at HIBS is faith. It is the essence of our 'special character'. HIBS has chosen to be a multi-donominational school. We have a strong code of conduct based on Christian values and are affiliated to the Anglican church and its traditions. Respect for the beliefs of all cultures and religions is promoted from a foundation of Christian teachers and ethics.
Students attend 'Understanding Faith' classes to help them explore their own spiritual growth and beliefs. The basic values of caring, humility, understanding and tolerance are taught. There are also family services during the year and the school has a Chaplain, as a member of the teaching staff.
The essential beliefs and values comprising the special character of the school are:
- development of a strong moral code based on Christian ethics
- an understanding faith programme and services of worship
- encouragement for parents to participate with their son
