Complete the pre-enrolment form found on this website. Upon completion, your son will be placed on the school's pre-enrolment database for the year of intended interest.
In the year preceding entry to Year 7, the School will contact you by letter with further information regarding our Open Day and completing a full Enrolment Application.
No, the trend in previous years is that we receive more applications for Year 7 than we are able to accommodate.
Yes, applications for Year 7 close in May the year preceding entry to year 7. The closing date is displayed on our website.
Vacancies for other year levels will be advertised on the school's website, and closing dates will be included.
Placement on pre-enrolment database does not guarantee entry to the School.
Parents are encouraged to pre-enrol their son at any time.
Yes. We can bring forward or transfer your child's intended date of entry. You only need to notify us. However if your child has been accepted and you choose to defer the date of entry the acceptance process will start afresh at that date. Previous acceptance does not guarantee a subsequent place.
Not all applicants are interviewed. We use the information we receive from you and your son’s current school and our criteria for selection to shortlist students for interviews . You may access the criteria for selection information on our website. Interviews will involve both you and your son
Students who have been interviewed and offered a place are tested for class placement in the November preceding entry to HIBS.
Interviews take place in June and offers of place are sent out during the last week of Term 2. Parents are asked to confirm their acceptance by completing an acceptance form and returning it with the $1500 Advanced Attendance Dues within three weeks.
Boys are occasionally admitted after the school year commences if places become available.

HIBS has an Open Day every year in May where the whole school is open to the public. The date is advertised in the Upper Hutt Leader, Hutt News and Kapi Mana.
