The performing arts and drama department at Hutt International Boys’ School is committed to providing learning opportunities that stimulate creative action by engaging the imagination, senses, thoughts and emotions of our students.

From our junior performing arts program through to our senior drama classes we strive to package essential learning in a way that is engaging, dynamic, relevant, challenging and fun!

We recognise that the performing arts can be a powerful agent for exploring, expressing and challenging values, thoughts and ideas about the world around us.

Our courses are designed so that essential skills and vocabularies are built upon at each year level. As students progress they are equipped with a greater understanding of the forms, styles and functions of each discipline. This enables them to devise, shape, structure and express their imagined worlds in increasingly effective ways.

There is a very positive and strong culture surrounding the performing arts at Hutt International Boys’ School. Students are involved in a range of co-curricular activities that provide opportunities to extend their skills and perform in public.
