Year 7 Design Technology

Course runs for the duration of two terms and introduces students to the basic skills of designing and making with a familiarisation of the workshop environment.

Students discover and develop their understanding of the cultural aspects of Taonga with the ‘Maori Taonga Pendant’ project. Research and basic designing advise students for their pendant design whilst the making begins development of their workshop skills using basic hand tools and acrylic materials.

Crazy Critters are fantastic vibrating ‘aliens’ introducing basic electronic components and plastic thermoforming to the students. Basic designing skills are developed and a use of a wide range of materials (high impact polystyrene, MDF, steel, electronic components and textiles) through production and assembly.
