The success of students is paramount. We offer excellent teaching staff, small classes and a wide subject range (parents have said these were the aspects of HIBS they most valued).

The first four years at Hutt International Boys’ School are the formative years for good relationships and work habits.

Junior classes are split into two bands of two classes. One of these bands has a support teacher for 5 periods each week in English and Mathematics. Care is also taken to recognise gifted and talented students and to provide teaching programmes which cater for these students.

Students receive ongoing evaluation to ensure that they are in the class where they can make the best progress.

Courses of study at the junior level lay the groundwork for all core and elective subjects offered in Year 10 and in the Senior school. Some choice of options are available at Year 8/9, and a wider variety at Year 10.

In Year 11, 12 and 13, multi-level learning is possible
