Transport Options

Please find a list of transport options for students travelling to and from HIBS.

Metlink bus and train customers are now using Snapper cards.  You can purchase a Snapper card for $10 from a Snapper retailer.  Please visit the Metlink website for information on purchasing a Snapper card, retail locations, and using Snapper on the bus and the train.

TRANSPORT INFORMATION

Students are able to use route 971 and 973 serving Papakowhai, Paremata, Plimmerton and Whitby areas. This service is run by NZ Coach Services. Snapper cards are not accepted on these bus routes. Term passes and 10 trip tickets must be purchased direct from NZ Coach Services at www.nzcoach.co.nz Please visit NZ Coach Service website for bus stop information regarding Route 971 and 973.
Students from Petone are able to use public bus route 110, or the train.
Students from the Western Hills are able to use public bus route 150 and then transfer to route 110 at Queensgate, or take the train from Waterloo Station.
Students from Te Marua are able to use public bus route 112 and then transfer to route 110 at Upper Hutt Station. Students between Emerald Hill and Trentham will be able to use public bus route 110.
Students from Avalon, Taita and Stokes Valley are able to use public bus route 110. Students from Wainuiomata are able to use public bus route 160/170 and transfer to route 110, or take the train from Waterloo Station. Students from Waterloo, Woburn and Naenae are able to use public bus route 110, or the train. Students from Melling are able to use school route 951. For up to date bus information (including the current location of the bus), please download the Metlink Journey Planner app. HIBS is also situated close to Trentham train station. Many students from the above areas tend to use Metlink as this service provides flexibility with regard to time of travel. This fits in well with after school commitments. Students situated away from the train stations usually have access to the Metlink Bus service which delivers the boys close to HIBS at the corner of Barton Avenue and Fergusson Drive.
The bus from Eastbourne uses Tranzit Coachlines. The bus runs from Nikau Street leaving approximately at 7.30am. The cost is approximately $330 per term. Nearly all Eastbourne boys use this service. If you wish to place your son's name on the list, please email jorr@hibs.school.nz
